Ramel Gulley, Fentanyl Trafficking, New York 2022

A 28-year-old Schenectady man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking scheme.

Ramel Gulley, a Schenectady resident, was found guilty of possessing and intending to distribute 400 grams or more of a substance containing fentanyl, as well as possessing multiple firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The crime occurred on February 28, 2022, when Gulley possessed heroin-fentanyl mixtures weighing a total of 2,035 grams that he intended to distribute. Additionally, he possessed four firearms to protect the drugs, $12,625 in drug proceeds, and his drug trafficking business.

The sentence was handed down by the court in Albany, New York, on an unspecified date, although it is reported to have occurred recently. The sentence includes 240 months (20 years) in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release.

United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Craig L. Tremaroli announced the sentence.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Capital District Safe Streets Gang Task Force, which includes FBI Special Agents and members of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dustin C. Segovia prosecuted the case.

Gulley's sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences for those involved in fentanyl trafficking and other serious crimes.
