A Honduran man has been sentenced to prison for using fake identification documents in Iowa.
Ramon Calderon-Rivera, age 37, was sentenced to 102 days in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful use of identification documents. The crime took place on November 2023 at a business in Iowa, where Calderon-Rivera used a fraudulent Social Security card and a fraudulent California driver’s license to prove his authorization to work in the United States.
According to the indictment, the number on the Social Security card was assigned to someone else. Social Security cards and driver’s licenses are documents prescribed by statute or regulation for entry into or as evidence of authorized stay or employment in the United States.
Calderon-Rivera was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams. In addition to the prison term, he must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the federal government to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Morfitt and investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
