Randall Keith Midkiff, Attempted Enticement of a Child, Alabama 2024

A 37-year-old Mobile man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a child into sex.

Randall Keith Midkiff was sentenced in the Southern District of Alabama on [no date given] after pleading guilty to a count of 18 USC Section 2422(b), attempted enticement of a child.

As part of his plea agreement, Midkiff admitted to engaging in a sexual conversation with an adult woman he met on an internet dating site, and then asking her if she would allow him to have sex with her 9-year-old daughter.

The woman told him no and reported him to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, but Midkiff persisted in texting her, even offering to marry her if she would allow him to have sex with the child twice a week.

Midkiff was arrested when he drove to Washington County, and subsequently admitted to a second incident in 2017, in which he met an adult woman and began to text her. He then contacted her 14-year-old daughter on Facebook and began to groom her for sex.

At sentencing, the United States recommended a sentence of 30 years, which Judge Callie V. S. Granade deemed appropriate. Midkiff will be supervised by the United States Probation Office for the rest of his life and will be required to register as a sex offender.

This case was investigated by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Clarke County Sheriff's Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office and AUSA Maria E. Murphy.
