Randolph Boyd Strawn, Murder in Indian Country – Second Degree, Oklahoma 2023

On December 6, 2022, Randolph Boyd Strawn, a 68-year-old resident of Checotah, Oklahoma, committed a heinous crime in McIntosh County, which falls within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation. Strawn maliciously killed the victim, pouring gasoline around them and igniting it.

The Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Police, the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the crime, leading to Strawn's arrest. On May 1, 2023, Strawn pleaded guilty to one count of Murder in Indian Country – Second Degree.

The Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing. Strawn will serve a non-paroleable sentence of 180 months in prison for his crimes.

Assistant United States Attorney Edith A. Singer represented the United States in the case. Strawn will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility.

The people of Checotah and McIntosh County can rest a little easier knowing that justice has been served. The sentence handed down to Strawn is a reminder that those who commit such heinous crimes will face severe consequences.
