Raul Flores-Mendez, Violent Crime, California 2013

On May 31, 2013, the U.S. Department of Justice indicted Raul Flores-Mendez in a federal criminal case in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, CAED Federal District. The charges against Flores-Mendez included engaging in a violent crime, specifically a violent crime in aid of racketeering, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The federal case was a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) into a string of violent crimes linked to the Mexican Mafia, a powerful gang in the United States.

Flores-Mendez's indictment was part of a larger effort by law enforcement to dismantle the Mexican Mafia's operations in California. The case against Flores-Mendez highlighted the ongoing struggle against violent crime and gang activity in the state.
