Raymond Hammond, Firearms Violation, Pennsylvania 2019
Raymond Hammond, 27, has been charged with violating federal firearm laws after a series of events led to his arrest in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania.
On October 16, 2019, City of Pittsburgh Police officers arrested Hammond for possessing a Smith and Wesson model M&P Shield .45 caliber hand gun and .45 caliber ammunition, after having been convicted of crimes punishable by more than one year in prison.
According to the indictment, Hammond's possession of the firearm and ammunition is a direct violation of federal law, which prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
Assistant United States Attorney Christy C. Wiegand is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
