Rebecca A. Moore, Methamphetamine Distribution, Illinois 2014

A Jasper County woman has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for her role in a methamphetamine distribution ring. Rebecca A. Moore, 37, of Yale, Illinois, was handed down the sentence in federal court.

Moore pleaded guilty to two counts of methamphetamine-related charges. Count 1 charged that Moore, Ashley M. Attaway, 29, of Yale, Illinois, David C. Halterman, 44, of Yale, Illinois, and Ricky Lee Roberts, II, 39, of Franklin, Indiana, conspired to knowingly and intentionally distribute methamphetamine. Count 3 charged that from April 2013 to October 12, 2013, in Jasper County, Moore did knowingly maintain a residence located in Yale, Illinois, for the purpose of using and distributing methamphetamine.

Moore was fined $400 and will be subject to five years of supervised release following her imprisonment. Co-defendant Ashley M. Attaway was previously sentenced to 188 months in prison.

The investigation into the methamphetamine distribution ring was conducted by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. The Jasper County State’s Attorney’s Office also assisted throughout the investigation.

The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood.

Moore will begin serving her 14-year sentence immediately. The case remains ongoing for co-defendants David C. Halterman and Ricky Lee Roberts, II, who are set for trial on November 3, 2014.

In the United States, a defendant is presumed to be innocent of a charge until proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to the satisfaction of a jury.
