Beretta Bandit Sentenced to 106 Years in Prison

A notorious serial robber known as the Beretta Bandit has been sentenced to 106 years and 6 months in federal prison. Richard Allen Randolph, 44, of Youngstown, Ohio, was found guilty by a federal jury on April 19, 2024 for Hobbs Act robberies, attempted robbery, brandishing a firearm, and discharging a firearm during the commission of the robberies.

According to evidence presented at trial, Randolph robbed four commercial businesses in Tampa, Florida between January 27 and February 26, 2020. During each robbery, Randolph wore a hooded sweatshirt and facial covering and threatened the victims with a Beretta Pico pistol. The pistol was later recovered by law enforcement during a traffic stop in Collier County in July 2021.

The victims testified about their terror during the robberies, but were unable to identify Randolph due to his disguise. The evidence presented at trial focused on the recovered Beretta Pico pistol, testimony from a co-worker who identified Randolph as the seller of the pistol, and forensic analyses from the ATF laboratory in Atlanta.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Tampa Police Department, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Maria Guzman and Brooke Padgett.

The sentence is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence in communities. On May 26, 2021, the government launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on core principles of fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, and setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities.

Randolph will also forfeit the Beretta Pico pistol used in the commission of the offenses. The 106-year and 6-month sentence is a significant blow to the notorious serial robber, who will spend the remainder of his life behind bars.

This case is a prime example of the Government’s commitment to keeping communities safe. We will continue to work tirelessly to bring violent criminals to justice and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
