Savannah Man Pleads Guilty to Two Armed Robberies

Savannah, GA - Rico Lavon Edwards, 30, of Savannah, Georgia, pleaded guilty to his role in the armed robberies of the Savannah Postal Credit Union and Barnett Educational Supplies.

According to evidence presented during his guilty plea hearing, on November 8, 2012, Edwards, along with an accomplice, committed an armed bank robbery at the Savannah Postal Credit Union, and took less than $1000 in cash.

Less than two weeks later, on November 19, 2012, Edwards robbed Barnett Educational Supplies in Savannah, Georgia.

The armed bank robbery count to which Edwards pled guilty carries a maximum statutory penalty of up to 25 years in prison; a fine up to $250,000; and 5 years of supervised release.

The commercial robbery count to which Edwards also pled guilty carries a maximum statutory penalty of up to 20 years in prison; a fine up to $250,000; and 3 years of supervised release.

Edwards' sentencing will be scheduled after the United States Probation Office completes a presentence investigation.

The charges against Edwards were the result of a joint investigation conducted by the FBI and the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.
