Local Man Pleads Guilty To Drug Conspiracy
MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – In a shocking turn of events, Robbie Lee Holmes, a 31-year-old man from Bunch, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge.
The charges against Holmes stem from an investigation by the Tahlequah Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The investigation revealed that Holmes was involved in a conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Holmes entered a guilty plea to Drug Conspiracy, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846. This charge is punishable by not less than 10 years and not more than life imprisonment, a fine up to $10,000,000.00, or both.
The charges against Holmes arose from an investigation that began in or about September 2017 and continued up to and including the date of the Superseding Indictment. The exact date of the Superseding Indictment is unknown to the Grand Jury.
Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson represented the United States in this case. The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
With the guilty plea, Holmes now faces a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, as well as a fine of up to $10,000,000.00. The case is a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in Oklahoma.
