Grand Island Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Distribution
A 56-year-old Grand Island man has been sentenced for his role in a massive methamphetamine distribution operation in Nebraska.
Robert Burkhardt, 56, of Grand Island, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Burkhardt was involved in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine with several co-conspirators, including Jolene Armentrout and Lonnie Mason. On January 30, 2024, Armentrout and Mason flew from Omaha to Los Angeles, California, where they purchased 25 pounds of methamphetamine.
Burkhardt, meanwhile, drove to Las Vegas with co-conspirator Stephanie Cummings. The two met up with Armentrout and Mason in Las Vegas, where they then flew back to Nebraska with the methamphetamine.
Law enforcement conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and located the 25 pounds of methamphetamine contained in a hidden compartment. Burkhardt and Armentrout had driven the methamphetamine back to Nebraska and arrived on February 4, 2024.
Burkhardt will begin a 3-year term of supervised release after he is released from prison. His co-conspirators, including Cummings, Armentrout, and Mason, are also facing sentencing for their roles in the conspiracy.
Cummings has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and is scheduled for sentencing on April 9, 2025. Armentrout has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and is scheduled for sentencing on March 19, 2025. Mason has also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and is scheduled for sentencing on May 7, 2025.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Omaha Police Department as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation.
According to the DOJ, OCDETF is a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach that identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States.
