Robert C. Ard, Making an Unlawful Firearm, West Virginia 2018

A destructive device was found in the home of Robert C. Ard, 54, of Elkins, West Virginia.

Ard, who pled guilty to one count of 'Making an Unlawful Firearm' in August 2018, admitted to making a firearm, that is a destructive device.

Ard was sentenced today to 24 months incarceration for the crime.

Elkins, West Virginia is where the crime took place.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police investigated the crime.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the case.
