Child Pornography Ring Busted in Minneapolis

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as Robert James Levi, a registered sex offender, was sentenced to 27 years in prison for producing child pornography.

According to court documents, for a three-year period starting in February 2022, Levi coerced and enticed a then-12-year-old girl in another state into producing child sexual abuse material and sending it to him over the internet.

Levi 'catfished' the victim, posing as a 16-year-old boy, exchanging over 112,000 messages with the victim, and convincing the victim she was in a 'relationship' with Levi. In fact, Levi was an adult man and, later, a convicted sex offender.

The state conviction did not stop Levi—he continued to exploit the victim during the pendency of that case and after he was placed on probation.

This case is the result of an investigation by the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristian Weir prosecuting the case.

Robert James Levi, a registered sex offender from Minneapolis, Minnesota, was sentenced to 324 months' imprisonment for production of child pornography.

In February 2024, Levi was convicted of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree in Stearns County, Minnesota, and was required to register as a sex offender.

Levi's sentence is a result of his exploitation of a minor victim for years, announced U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen.
