Felony Gun Charge Lands West Virginia Man in Hot Water

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Capon Bridge resident is facing serious consequences after a guilty plea to a felony gun charge.

Robert Jeffery Householder, 46, has been convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.

The conviction stems from a August 2014 incident in which Householder was discovered in possession of a .9mm pistol. Due to a prior conviction for 'Drug User in Possession of a Firearm' in 2008, Householder was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Hampshire County Sheriff's Office, the West Virginia State Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with Assistant United States Attorney Paul Camilletti prosecuting on behalf of the government.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble presided over the case.

Householder faces up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00. The actual sentence will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, taking into account the seriousness of the offense and Householder's prior criminal history.
