Robert Reidy, Unlawful Firearm Possession, New Hampshire 2024

A Nashua man is facing federal charges after a joint investigation by local and federal authorities uncovered a stash of illicit firearms in his possession.

Robert Reidy, a 32-year-old Nashua resident, was indicted on one count of possession of firearms and ammunition by a prohibited person and one count of possession of unregistered firearms, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The charges stem from a December 5, 2023, incident in which Reidy was found to be in possession of three pistols, a short-barreled rifle, and a silencer, as well as 160 rounds of ammunition. As a previously convicted felon, Reidy is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition under federal law.

The short-barreled rifle and silencer were unregistered firearms, adding to the severity of the charges. Reidy's illegal possession of firearms and ammunition carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison, up to a three-year term of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

The charge of possession of unregistered firearms provides for a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, 3 years of supervised release, and a fine of $10,000.

Reidy is currently in state custody on related charges and is set to appear in federal court on March 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany Scanlon is prosecuting the case, with the Nashua Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives leading the investigation, assisted by the Manchester Police Department.
