Robert Rose, Child Pornography, Nebraska 2020

Robert Rose, a 65-year-old man from Guide Rock, Nebraska, has been sentenced to four years in prison for possession of child pornography. Rose was sentenced on September 18, 2020, in Lincoln, Nebraska by Chief United States District Judge John M. Gerrard.

Rose was found to have possessed more than 600 images and videos of children under the age of 18 years old, including infants and toddlers, nude and/or engaging in sexually explicit conduct. These images were discovered on his laptop during a search warrant executed by the Nebraska State Patrol on July 19, 2018.

Rose admitted to obtaining these images from the internet. The laptop was seized and forensically examined by the Nebraska State Patrol.

The case against Rose was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood was launched in May 2006 by the authorities and marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

Rose will have to serve a 12-year term of supervised release after his release from prison and will be required to register as a sex offender. He was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution.

The case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol.
