Cocaine Trafficking Lands Boston Man Behind Bars

A Boston man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in cocaine trafficking. Robert Santos, 26, was arrested in September 2018 after a high-speed car chase through South Boston. Santos was observed making an illegal turn in a silver Hyundai Tucson, prompting police officers to conduct a routine traffic stop.

However, Santos, who was driving the car, fled the scene, leading police on a car pursuit through South Boston and subsequently on foot into Moakley Park. Santos was apprehended and found in possession of several plastic baggies containing cocaine and crack cocaine weighing a total of 27 grams.

Santos pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine in April 2019. He was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton to one year in prison and three years of supervised release. Santos completed the RISE program before his sentencing.

The United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Kelly Brady, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division announced the sentencing today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Looney of Lelling’s Criminal Division prosecuted the case.

Santos’s involvement in cocaine trafficking has landed him a one-year prison sentence. The severity of the sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities. The RISE program, which Santos completed, aims to provide individuals with the tools and support necessary to reintegrate into society upon release from prison.
