Robert Schatzman, Firearm Possession, Pennsylvania 2025

A federal court in Pennsylvania heard a guilty plea from a local resident accused of violating a federal firearms law.

Robert Schatzman, 21, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

The case began on April 29, 2025, when law enforcement executed a search warrant at Schatzman's home in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, and recovered a Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol and ammunition from a floor air vent in his bedroom.

Schatzman was previously convicted of robbery in the Court of Common Pleas of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, a fact that federal law prohibits him from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

Assistant United States Attorney Kelly M. Locher is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States, while the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Schatzman.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history of the defendant.

Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand scheduled Schatzman's sentencing for March 23, 2026, with a maximum total sentence of up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
