BUFFALO, N.Y. - A notorious figure is going to prison for his role in a violent gang.
Roderick Arrington, 42, of Buffalo, was sentenced to 216 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. Arrington was convicted of racketeering conspiracy, a charge that carries severe penalties.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia; the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia; the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III, New York Field Division; and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Eugene Staniszewski.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch, who handled the case, stated that Arrington was a member of the Schuele Boys Gang, which operated in the Schuele Street area of the East Side of Buffalo. The gang was responsible for multiple acts of violence and the distribution of illegal narcotics, including cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.
The case against Arrington highlights the ongoing struggle against organized crime in Western New York. The Schuele Boys Gang's activities have caused harm to countless individuals and families in the community.
