Jackson Man Sentenced to 50 Months for Gun Possession

Rodney Davis Kimble, 26, of Jackson, Mississippi, was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Kimble, who had previously been convicted in Hinds County of house burglary in 2012 and business burglary in 2015, was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fine.

According to court documents, on August 8, 2017, officers with the Jackson Police Department responded to a burglary alarm on Southland Drive in Jackson. At the scene, the resident reported a .380 caliber Taurus had been stolen.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Jackson Police Department investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly T. Purdie.

This case is part of Project EJECT, an initiative by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi under the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).

Kimble was arrested on September 3, 2017, after threatening an individual with a gun, and law enforcement matched his DNA to that recovered at the scene of the burglary.

The case is part of Project EJECT, a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach to fighting and reducing violent crime through prosecution, prevention, re-entry and awareness.
