Rodolfo Villanueva, Methamphetamine Distribution, Virginia 2023
A Richmond, Virginia man has been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison for distributing pure methamphetamine in the city.
Rodolfo Villanueva, 30, was found to have supplied over 5 kilograms of nearly pure methamphetamine to undercover agents from September 21, 2022, to February 13, 2023.
According to court documents, Villanueva used a courier to meet with the source and provide the methamphetamine. The courier would then collect money owed to Villanueva for previously supplied methamphetamine.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and task force agents, who used a confidential source to make multiple purchases of methamphetamine from Villanueva.
Following the final sale on February 13, 2023, agents took Villanueva into custody and recovered the money from the transaction, which was in Villanueva's coat pocket.
A search of Villanueva's Richmond apartment resulted in the recovery of 8.9 kilograms of fentanyl and 8.8 kilograms of cocaine.
Villanueva was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David J. Novak after being found guilty of distributing methamphetamine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Olivia L. Norman prosecuted the case.
The investigation was announced by Jessica D. Aber, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Jarod Forget, Special Agent in Charge for the DEA's Washington Division; and Colonel Gary T. Settle, Virginia State Police Superintendent.
