Ron Wardlow, Armed Gas Station Carjacking, Maryland 2025
A Baltimore man is headed to prison after a federal jury convicted him in connection with an armed carjacking at a local gas station.
Ron Wardlow, 26, was found guilty of carjacking, using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.
The jury delivered the guilty verdict after a trial in federal court.
The crime occurred on February 27, 2025, at a Fells Point gas station, where Wardlow approached two victims and asked for a ride. When one of the victims refused, Wardlow pulled out a 9mm Glock loaded with 31 rounds and demanded the car keys.
The victims called 911 to report the carjacking, and law enforcement tracked the victims' digital devices to a nearby gas station. Wardlow was eventually found hiding in the cellar entryway of a nearby residence after fleeing on foot.
During the search, officers found the mask and gloves Wardlow wore during the carjacking, as well as a bag containing the loaded Glock 9mm.
Wardlow faces a minimum of seven years and a maximum of life in federal prison for the brandishing of the firearm during the carjacking, to be imposed consecutive to any other sentence. He also faces a maximum of 15 years for the carjacking and 15 years for possessing a firearm as a felon.
Sentencing is set for Wednesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. before a federal district judge.
U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes commended the ATF, BPD, and BCPD for their work in the investigation and RATT for its valuable assistance.
