Ryan Elton Devore, Child Sex Abuse, Florida 2017

A Satsuma, Florida man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for downloading child sex abuse videos over the internet.

U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan handed down the sentence to Ryan Elton Devore (31, Satsuma) on an unspecified date, although the crime date was July 18, 2017, when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Devore’s home in connection with an online child exploitation investigation.

Devore downloaded numerous depictions of child pornography, including at least 400 videos of children being sexually abused, according to court documents. When questioned about the content, he admitted to having come across pornography involving children under the age of 12.

Devore was ordered to serve a 15-year term of supervised release, register as a sex offender, and pay $3,000 in restitution to child victims. This case is another example of the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Gainesville Police Department, and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown.

Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006, aims to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by marshaling federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Devore is a defendant in a case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. He faces charges for receiving child sexual abuse videos over the internet. The case is a reminder of the importance of addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse.
