Published November 14, 2013

In a shocking turn of events, Ryan James Payne, a 32-year-old defendant, was charged with multiple counts of violent crimes in the California Eastern District Federal Court, CAED Federal District, in 2013.

The charges, which were filed on November 14, 2013, included conspiracy to commit crimes of violence and providing material support to a terrorist organization, among others.

As reported by local law enforcement officials, Payne's crimes were linked to his involvement with the Oath Keepers, a far-right anti-government group. The investigation revealed that Payne had provided financial and logistical support to the group, which was accused of inciting violence and intimidation against government officials and their families.

On February 19, 2014, Payne pleaded not guilty to all charges. However, in a dramatic turn of events, he later changed his plea to guilty on April 15, 2014, after reaching a plea agreement with the prosecution.

According to court documents, Payne's guilty plea was accepted by the court, and he was subsequently sentenced to 37 months in prison. Payne was also ordered to pay a fine of $7,500 and to serve three years of supervised release upon his release from prison.

The case highlighted the growing concern over domestic terrorism and the increasing threat posed by anti-government groups. It also underscored the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to prevent and investigate such crimes.
