A Doon, Iowa, man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for distributing a controlled substance that resulted in serious bodily injury, according to Acting United States Attorney Dennis R. Holmes.

Rylan Wayne Walth, a/k/a 'Rylan Conrad,' age 34, was sentenced on May 17, 2021 by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier.

The conviction stems from an incident on or about September 8, 2019, when Walth knowingly and intentionally distributed fentanyl, resulting in the serious bodily injury of a victim. Rylan Wayne Walth was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. He was also ordered to pay a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100 and to serve five years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence.

Walth was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 6, 2020 and pled guilty on March 4, 2021.

The maximum penalty for the offense is 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
