Sammy Lynn Key, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Oklahoma 2022
A Colbert, Oklahoma resident has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000.00 fine.
Sammy Lynn Key, age 45, of Colbert, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The charge arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office. The indictment charged Key with knowingly possessing a .38 Special caliber revolver on September 23, 2022, after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Key will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan E. Soverly and Lewis M. Reagan represented the United States.
