Marijuana Trafficking Bust in Indianola, Oklahoma

A 25-year-old man from Indianola, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to marijuana trafficking and firearm possession.

Samuel James King, a resident of Indianola, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, and one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The charges arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the McAlester Police Department. On May 12, 2025, King knowingly and intentionally possessed less than fifty kilograms of marijuana with intent to distribute it. Additionally, King was found in possession of a rifle, a semi-automatic pistol, two revolvers, and multiple rounds of assorted ammunition, all while being a convicted felon.

The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Currently, King will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Edith A. Singer represented the United States in this case.

According to the indictment, King's actions were a serious breach of trust in the community, and his guilty plea serves as a warning to those who may be considering similar actions.
