CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Harrison County man has been sentenced for failing to update his sex offender registration. Scotty Lee Morris, 48, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, was sentenced to 30 months incarceration after he admitted to the crime.
Morris pled guilty to one count of ‘Failure to Update Sex Offender Registration.’ He failed to update his sex offender registration in October 2018 in Harrison County. This case is prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The United States Marshal Service investigated.
The case is the result of an ongoing effort to ensure that those required to register as sex offenders comply with the law. Morris must now serve 30 months in prison for his failure to update his registration.

This is a reminder that law enforcement agencies will continue to work together to bring those who fail to comply with the law to justice.
