Sean Gleason, Child Pornography Charges, Massachusetts 2019

Published October 3, 2019

Sean Gleason, a 35-year-old man from Dennis Port, Massachusetts, has been indicted on serious child pornography charges.

According to a federal indictment, Gleason was charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for each charge.

The charges stem from an investigation into the use of a messaging application in the exchange of child pornography. On September 10, 2019, a federal search warrant was executed at a residence in Dennis Port, where a preliminary forensic review of Gleason's cell phone revealed hundreds of images of child pornography.

Gleason was arrested and charged by criminal complaint on September 10, 2019, and has been in custody since. An arraignment date has not yet been scheduled.

The charges of receipt and possession of child pornography each carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, and the charge of receipt of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison. Both charges provide for a mandatory minimum of five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

Gleason's case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam W. Deitch of U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling's Major Crimes Unit. The case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse.

The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
