Sean Rondeau, Healthcare Fraud, Illinois 2026
Jacksonville Chiropractor Sentenced for Healthcare Fraud
Sean Rondeau, a 56-year-old chiropractor in Jacksonville, Illinois, was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for defrauding health insurance companies of more than a quarter million dollars.
Rondeau was convicted of healthcare fraud, three counts of mail fraud, and five counts of wire fraud. The government presented evidence that he submitted more than 2,000 separate fraudulent claims, each requiring his direct action.
When Rondeau learned he was under investigation, he attempted to hide his crimes by convincing his clients to sign false documents. The judge noted that Rondeau committed these crimes despite previously being caught committing fraud over a decade ago.
Rondeau was ordered to pay more than $268,000 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to all nine counts in December 2025, after a federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment against him in August 2024.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Springfield Field Office, investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas F. McMeyer represented the government in the prosecution.
Rondeau's sentence comes as the National Fraud Enforcement Division is working to combat fraud against the American people. The division is investigating and prosecuting those who commit fraud against the government and its programs.
