SHADOR TOMMIE CORTEZ JACKSON, Arson, Minnesota 2020
A Richfield man is facing federal charges after allegedly setting fire to the Target headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, SHADOR TOMMIE CORTEZ JACKSON, 24, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of arson.
The alleged arson occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, during a night of rioting and looting in Minneapolis following the suicide of a suspect in a homicide.
Target surveillance video showed JACKSON using a construction sign to break through a glass door into the building, located at 1000 Nicollet Mall, and then igniting a fire on a desktop in the mailroom.
Later that night, JACKSON was stopped by the Richfield Police and found in possession of stolen items of merchandise.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys John Docherty and Chelsea Walcker.
JACKSON is currently being held pending a formal detention and preliminary hearing scheduled for September 16, 2020, at 10:30 am before Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Cowan Wright.
The charges contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The case is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Minneapolis Fire Department, and the Minneapolis, Bloomington, and Richfield Police Departments.
