Shaone Lovett, Methamphetamine & Firearms Possession, Virginia 2023

A Hopewell man has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after being caught with a stash of methamphetamine and two loaded AR-style pistols.

Shaone Lovett, 27, was found guilty of possessing with the intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine in Chesterfield County. When law enforcement raided his residence in January 2023, they also discovered fentanyl, cocaine, and two AR-style semiautomatic pistols.

The search warrant was executed by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Chesterfield County Police Department. When officers encountered Lovett, they found an AR-style semiautomatic pistol loaded with a high-capacity magazine containing 40 rounds of ammunition. Upon searching his apartment, they discovered another AR-style semiautomatic pistol and dozens of rounds of ammunition.

Lovett was sentenced to 124 months in prison for his crimes. The sentencing was announced by Jessica D. Aber, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and her team.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shea Gibbons and Erik S. Siebert. The investigation was a joint effort between the DEA, the Chesterfield County Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The exact charges against Lovett include possessing with the intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine, as well as possessing fentanyl, cocaine, and two AR-style semiautomatic pistols.

According to court documents, Lovett's crimes were committed in January 2023 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The case was heard in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
