A brutal attack turned deadly last night in Oak Springs, Ariz., as Shaun Gui Hale, 33, perpetrated a prolonged assault against a victim, leaving them with serious injuries.

Hale repeatedly punched the victim and strangled them into unconsciousness, a vicious act of domestic violence that has left the community shaken. The crime, which took place on April 29-30, 2017, at Hale's residence, has come to a close with a seven-year prison sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge John J. Tuchi on May 20, 2019.

The U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Arizona, Phoenix, led the prosecution, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys William G. Voit and Krista J. Wood handling the case. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation into the crime.

According to reports, both Hale and the victim were members of the Navajo Nation, adding a layer of complexity to the case. The offense took place in Oak Springs, on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation, highlighting the intersection of law enforcement and tribal jurisdiction.
