South Bend Man Sentenced to Over 11 Years for Bank Robbery

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA - In a shocking turn of events, Shawn Fox, a 34-year-old man from South Bend, Indiana, was sentenced to 137 months in prison for his involvement in a string of bank robberies that took place in 2018 and 2019.

According to court documents, Fox was involved in the robbery of four banks, including three in the South Bend area and one in Bronson, Michigan. The robberies occurred between December 2018 and January 28, 2019.

Fox's sentencing comes as a surprise, given his history of crime. He was released from prison on October 19, 2018, after serving time for a previous bank robbery conviction. At the time of the latest robberies, Fox was on supervised release and had already been convicted of five prior felony offenses, including two robbery convictions.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer handling the prosecution. U.S. District Court Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr. presided over the sentencing hearing.

Fox's sentence also includes three years of supervised release, during which time he will be required to pay $10,197 in restitution.

The people of South Bend can rest a little easier knowing that Fox will be off the streets for the next several years. However, it remains to be seen whether this sentence will be enough to deter future crimes.
