Shaylyn Holmes, Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, Oklahoma 2026

TAHLEQUAH, OKLAHOMA - In a shocking turn of events, 33-year-old Shaylyn Holmes of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, in a federal court in Muskegee, Oklahoma.

The indictment charged Holmes with knowingly possessing one semi-automatic pistol and nine rounds of assorted ammunition on January 30, 2026, after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.

The charge arose from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Conway represented the United States in the case.

The Honorable D. Edward Snow, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Holmes will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
