Grimy Times Exclusive: Four New Orleans Men Indicted for Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Trafficking

A 20-count indictment has been unsealed against four New Orleans men accused of selling fentanyl and methamphetamine in the city. SHERWIN WHITE, 29, LIONEL WINDING, JR., 20, LORENZO SMITH, 19, and ANDRE MILLS, 37, were charged with various federal crimes in connection with their alleged involvement in a fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking operation.

According to the indictment, between November 2024 and January 2025, the defendants distributed fentanyl and methamphetamine and conspired to distribute, and possess with intent to distribute, those substances. On January 30, 2025, WHITE and WINDING possessed additional controlled substances with the intent to distribute them.

The indictment also alleges that the defendants carried firearms during three of the drug distributions and that WINDING also possessed a firearm in furtherance of two of the distributions.

WHITE, WINDING, and SMITH are each charged with distributing various quantities of fentanyl in Counts 2 and 3 and distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in Counts 4 and 8, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(B), and 841(b)(1)(C).

WHITE and MILLS are also charged with distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in Count 12, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B).

As to their firearms crimes, WHITE, WINDING, and SMITH are each charged in Counts 6 and 10, and WHITE and MILLS are charged in Count 13, with carrying firearms during, and in relation to, a drug trafficking crime, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A)(i).

The defendants face serious prison time and fines if convicted. WHITE and WINDING face up to 20 years in prison, up to a $1,000,000 fine, and at least three years of supervised release for their fentanyl distribution charges. WHITE also faces the same penalties for his possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl in Count 16.

The indictment alleges that the defendants committed federal crimes involving 17 firearms. As to the conspiracy charge in Count 1, all four defendants face a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison up to life, up to a $10,000,000 fine, and at least five years of supervised release up to life.
