Shota Yamamoto, Conspiring to Export Firearm Components, Hawaii 2026

Shota Yamamoto, a 29-year-old national of Japan, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for conspiring to violate the Export Control Reform Act.

According to the DOJ USAO Middle District Alabama, Yamamoto was found guilty of conspiring to export firearm components and tactical accessories to Japan.

The defendant is expected to be deported to Japan upon the completion of his sentence.

Yamamoto pleaded guilty on January 22, 2026 in federal court before United States District Court Judge Micah W.J. Smith.
