Stefanie Redfern, Maintaining a Drug Involved Premises, Indiana 2024

Fort Wayne, IN - In a string of guilty pleas, Stefanie Redfern, 31, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, admitted to maintaining a drug involved premises in federal court.

According to court documents, Redfern's guilty plea was tendered to District Magistrate Roger B. Cosbey. The magistrate has recommended that the district court accept the plea, with parties having 14 days to object.

The charge stems from an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Service, and the Indiana State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Tina Nommay is prosecuting the case, with sentencing yet to be set.

Redfern is not the only defendant to plead guilty in recent weeks. Hayley VanDurmen, 23, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, also entered a guilty plea for knowingly selling a firearm to a convicted felon and aiding and abetting.

VanDurmen's plea was also tendered to District Magistrate Cosbey, with a 14-day window for objections. The charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris-King is prosecuting the case, with sentencing yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, Christopher Smith, 31, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Smith's plea was also tendered to District Magistrate Cosbey, with a 14-day window for objections. The charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Tina Nommay is prosecuting the case, with sentencing yet to be set.

Another defendant, Eddie Carlisle, 26, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carlisle's plea was tendered to District Magistrate Cosbey, with a 14-day window for objections. The charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Geller is prosecuting the case, with sentencing yet to be determined.

Additionally, Contrel Johnson, 23, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced to 57 months imprisonment with 2 years supervised release after pleading guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, Johnson was stopped by Fort Wayne Police Department on February 3, 2013, due to potential intoxication while operating a vehicle. A loaded firearm was found in the glove box of Johnson's vehicle.

Johnson's case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Wayne Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Lovita Morris-King prosecuted the case, with District Judge Theresa L. Springmann presiding over the sentencing.

The guilty pleas and sentence highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat crime in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
