COLUMBUS, Ohio – A notorious gang member has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in a string of violent crimes.
Steve Henderson, Jr., 25, of Columbus, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 240 months in prison. Henderson was one of 19 defendants charged in a gang-related racketeering conspiracy.
According to court documents, Henderson and others were members of the Trevitt and Atcheson Crips gang, known as T&A. The gang derived its name from Trevitt and Atcheson streets in the King-Lincoln District of Columbus, where its members predominantly reside.
Henderson was involved in multiple violent crimes, including shooting and attempting to murder rival Milo Bloods gang members in June 2014. He also opened fire on an individual after a dispute involving stolen narcotics in April 2015.
The gang, which controlled the neighborhood through intimidation, fear, and violence, was involved in murders, attempted murders, drug trafficking, firearms trafficking, witness tampering, robbery, assault, and other crimes.
Co-defendant Eric Henderson, Jr. was sentenced last week to 78 months in prison for selling gram quantities of crack cocaine on behalf of the racketeering conspiracy. Terrance Pyfrom, 21, was also sentenced last week to 78 months in prison for conspiring to distribute crack cocaine and shooting at members of the Easthaven Bloods gang.
The racketeering conspiracy included five murders, multiple attempted murders, and other violent and drug-trafficking crimes.
Henderson's sentence is the latest in a series of convictions related to the T&A gang's activities. The gang's violent crimes and drug trafficking have plagued the King-Lincoln District of Columbus for years.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Columbus Police Department, and the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office.
