Steven Michael Hawley, Felon in Possession of Firearms, West Virginia 2023

A convicted felon from Moorefield, West Virginia has been found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Steven Michael Hawley, 28, was discovered in unlawful possession of a .40 caliber pistol in Grant County, West Virginia in April of 2015.

Hawley, a resident of Moorefield, West Virginia, has a previous felony conviction in state court in West Virginia.

The conviction was for the felony offense of 'Unlawful Assault' in the Circuit Court of Hardy County, West Virginia.

Hawley pled guilty today to one count of 'Felon in Possession of Firearms.' The crime carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Camilletti prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided.
