Published December 5, 2024

A 27-year-old man from Duquesne, Pennsylvania, has been brought to justice after pleading guilty to violating federal narcotics and firearms laws, announced United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

Taiwan Donje Rodgers, a former resident of Duquesne, pleaded guilty to two counts before Senior United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti on December 4, 2024.

In connection with the guilty plea, the Court was advised that, on or about May 18, 2020, Rodgers unlawfully possessed with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl, violating federal narcotics laws. Additionally, Rodgers possessed firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon, which is prohibited by federal law.

The charges against Rodgers stem from a thorough investigation conducted by the Duquesne Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Rodgers' guilty plea has significant implications, as he now faces a maximum total sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, or both. Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Carl J. Spindler is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. Judge Conti has scheduled sentencing for April 3, 2025.

Taiwan Donje Rodgers' case serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating federal narcotics and firearms laws. As a convicted felon, Rodgers' possession of firearms and ammunition is a serious offense that will be taken into consideration during sentencing.

The investigation and prosecution of this case are a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies in Duquesne and the federal government to combating narcotics and firearms crimes.
