Tajuan Smith, Distribution of Cocaine Base, West Virginia 2018
A notorious cocaine dealer has been brought to justice in West Virginia. Tajuan Smith, also known as 'Poe,' has admitted to distributing cocaine in Wheeling, West Virginia.
According to authorities, Smith sold cocaine near Jensen Playground in June 2018. He faces a lengthy prison sentence and significant fines for his crimes.
Smith, 20, has pleaded guilty to one count of 'Distribution of Cocaine Base Within 1,000 Feet of a Protected Location.' This serious charge carries a minimum sentence of one year and a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, along with a fine of up to $2,000,000.
The actual sentence imposed will be determined by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account the severity of the offense and any prior criminal history the defendant may have.
The investigation into Smith's activities was led by the Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, in conjunction with the West Virginia State Police.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
