Takobie Anderson, 20, of Charlotte, was sentenced in federal court on April 21, 2019 for illegally possessing a firearm, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Andrew Murray.
Anderson was arrested on August 23, 2019 at a residence in Charlotte, where law enforcement located a loaded firearm that had been stolen and was used in a shooting at an apartment complex on April 21, 2019.
The investigation was handled by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
At the time of the shooting, Anderson was on probation for a state conviction and was wearing an ankle monitor, which did not prevent him from committing the crime.
Anderson is prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition due to his previous felony conviction. He was sentenced to 82 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
