“A Wolf Point woman who admitted to selling methamphetamine on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release,” U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said today.

Talayne Killeen Demarrias, 31, pleaded guilty in April to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Demarrias worked as an intermediary for a meth distributor in Wolf Point. Between January and March 2023, Demarrias distributed methamphetamine, and on February 7, 2023, a confidential source purchased approximately 76 grams of meth from Demarrias in a monitored purchase.

The U.S. Attorney's Office prosecuted the case. The Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Montana Highway Patrol, Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, Valley County Sheriff's Office, and Roosevelt County Sheriff's Office conducted the investigation.

Demarrias' sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing issue of methamphetamine trafficking on Native American reservations. The Fort Peck Indian Reservation has been particularly affected by the crisis, with numerous cases of methamphetamine distribution and possession in recent years.
