Hollister, Mo. – Cameron Allen Ryan, a former Taney County Volunteer Fire Department member, was handed a stiff 180-month federal prison sentence today for his role in distributing child pornography over the internet.

The 36-year-old defendant, Cameron Allen Ryan, will spend 15 years behind bars and an additional 10 years on supervised release. The court also ordered him to pay $51,000 in restitution to his victims and a $5,000 special assessment under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.

Ryan admitted to trading files of child pornography with an undercover FBI agent and others online, according to court documents. His arrest was prompted by a CyberTip made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The investigation revealed that Ryan had over 1800 files of child pornography on his devices. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon release and comply with federal and state registration requirements for life.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Wan prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, the Springfield Police Department, and the Taney County Sheriff’s Office.
