Tarell Lamar Taylor, Firearm Possession, Alabama 2017
A Mobile County man has received a 21-month sentence for possessing a firearm after being convicted of two felonies, the United States Attorney announced.
Tarell Lamar Taylor, 29, of Prichard, Alabama was sentenced to 21 months incarceration followed by three years of supervised release for the crime.
The charges against Taylor include Burglary Third Degree and Receiving Stolen Property, both of which are felonies.
On March 22, 2017, Taylor was stopped by Alabama State Troopers who responded to a stalled vehicle at an intersection in Mobile County. During the stop, the troopers smelled marijuana and discovered live rounds of federal brand 9mm ammunition in a bag at Taylor's feet.
Taylor was asked to remove the items from the bag and subsequently admitted to having an Omega, .22 caliber revolver secreted in the pocket behind his seat.
The case was investigated by the Alabama State Troopers and the FBI, with Assistant United States Attorney Gina S. Vann assigned to prosecute the case.
Taylor pled guilty to the charges on October 17, 2017.
