Terrance Deon Jordan, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Louisiana 2017

Published August 30, 2018

A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for possessing a firearm in Louisiana.

Terrance Deon Jordan, 35, of Terry, Mississippi, was sentenced to 96 months in prison on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised release.

The charges stem from a June 2, 2017 traffic stop in Delhi, Louisiana, where a Louisiana State Police trooper pulled over Jordan's vehicle for speeding. The trooper discovered a rifle with a shortened stock in the driver's seat next to Jordan's right leg.

The firearm was identified as a Norinco .223-caliber rifle, and ammunition was also found. Jordan is a felon who was convicted in Mississippi on multiple charges.

The ATF and Louisiana State Police conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Crawford prosecuted the case.

Jordan's sentence is the result of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program, which aims to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made turning the tide of rising violent crime in America a top priority.
