Terry Cottrell, Possession of Child Pornography, Indiana 2023
A Winamac, Indiana man has been sentenced to 97 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
Terry Cottrell, 38, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty in South Bend, Indiana.
According to court documents, law enforcement discovered over 9,000 images and seven videos of child pornography on Cottrell's cell phone and laptop computer in October 2019.
Cottrell confessed to possessing the images and has a prior conviction for breaking into a library in 2003 to look up child pornography on a library computer.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations with the assistance of the Indiana State Police.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk.
Cottrell was ordered to pay $39,000 in restitution as part of his sentence.
He will serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison term.
