Yuba City Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Abuse Material
A 40-year-old Yuba City man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material.
Thomas Davis was sentenced on May 2024 by U.S. District Judge Dena M. Coggins, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Between May 2023 and January 2024, Davis used the BitTorrent network to download and collect over 400 videos and 200 images containing child sexual abuse material, including some which depicted the sexual abuse of toddlers.
Assistant United States Attorney Charles Campbell prosecuted the case, which was the result of an investigation by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, the Yuba City Police Department, and the California Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.
Davis is currently serving his 15-year sentence for his part in the child abuse material crime.
