Warwick Man Sentenced to 260 Years for Child Pornography Crimes

A Warwick man has been sentenced to 260 years in federal prison for producing and possessing child pornography in Rhode Island.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Thomas Goodman, 45, of Warwick, was arrested on May 17, 2018, after Electric Boat Security confiscated his cell phone for violating company policy. A subsequent search of the phone discovered a vast quantity of child pornography.

Goodman had been in custody since his arrest. He pleaded guilty to eight counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography on October 11, 2018.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Goodman possessed approximately 7,800 images and 370 videos of child pornography, including at least 62 videos and 135 images involving prepubescent minors. He also admitted to having had sexual contact with at least three prepubescent females.

U.S. District Court Judge John J. McConnell, Jr. sentenced Goodman to 260 years in federal prison and ordered him to pay a mandatory assessment of $5,000 on each of the nine counts he pleaded guilty to.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee H. Vilker.

Goodman's crimes were uncovered by members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, including a court-authorized search of his residence, a forensic examination of his electronic devices, and interviews with Goodman.

The ICAC Task Force is a multi-agency task force that investigates crimes against children in Rhode Island.
